I built my 216 ci 1940 engine over 6000 miles ago. Everything is fine except for the constant aggrevation of a leaky original rope type rear main seal. Now I know that everybody states the rear main seals always leak. Well, enough is enough! Has anyone had good success with the aftermarket rubber two piece seals like the ones sold by Chevs of the 40's? Or does anyone make a good replacement rear main seal?
