I had a tension rod break on my 1971 Monte Carlo, just wondering if all GM intermediate cars (GTO, Chevelle, etc.) use the same rods? My other question is does anybody have any of these rods hanging around? Thanks

Chris:

I don't know about other "intermediate" GM's using the same tension rods; but it seems reasonable they would be.

I suspect Chev Gene may know. If he doesn't "chime" in soon, I'd sugggest you check in with "The Filling Station" or "Impala Bob." You can get contact info for both of them in a recent G and D or on the www.

You could also check with the Monte Carlo fellow who posts in here pretty regularly. I can't think of his name at the moment. But you could find him in the Monte threads. He's posted a lot of pix of Monte Nat'l Meets.

Here's the Monte Carlo guy I was referring to. It doesn't "copy and paste" too well.

Seems to me I have already replied to this question-here goes again.

The 1970-72 use the same deck lid (and rear window) as a 1970-72 Chevelle coupe.Lid also fits 1968-69 Chevelle coupe.Sure the rods would be the same, as is most of the inner body .Nothing but a Chevelle with an extended hood.

Gene,

I think you had already responded. I think I saw it in a different thread. I'm guessing 32/38 sort of accidentally posted his question in two different places.

Probably no big deal. Us "old guys" repeat ourselves now-and-then. Just check out the one-liner thread. Lots of "repeats" there......

Thanks for all your help on this. I did post this same message in both the parts wanted and the 1971 section also.
