I bought new front brake cables for my '32 from TFS. I am missing the brackets that fasten to the frame. Can anyone provide a description, or better yet a picture of where the cables fasten to the frame? They seem to be very stiff, and I don't want to damage them bending too much so maybe they don't sit right up against the frame? Thanks
That's interesting. Those look like 1929 springs with the anti-rebound leaves in them, but the brake system is the cable system from '30 onwards. What year vehicle is that?
Chip The vehicle that looks like it has '29 front springs is actually a 1931 1/2 ton truck. They didn't have factory installed shock absorbers. Used spring tension plates to dampen rebound the same as some earlier passenger springs.
Yes, Yes, The through bolt retains the cable end by slipping into the depression or indent. When tightened it also clamps the cable end. Hope you find the two mounting holes on each frame rail.
Hi Chip That's a great picture of your engine. Just a quick question about the color grey. Asked around and ordered paint from the Filling Station, and it is a lot darker than what I see in your picture. How did you decide on the color, and where did you get the paint? Is there a color code? Thanks.
That Looks to be the picture and light most everyone uses the Engine Gray from TFS (The Filling Station) depending on the light it looks different. Some of my pictures it looks DARK, others pretty mellow.

A lot of work was done many years ago to verify and reproduce the correct dark-blue gray engine paint. New OEM parts, paint out of Chevrolet cans etc. were compared. Several people participated in the evaluation and documentation. The conclusion was the claimed and most readily available medium gray engine paint was NOT the correct color. It was understood that at that time the vast majority of recently painted engines were not the correct color. That was going to irritate many folks and create controversy. Nevertheless identifying the correct color and making it available was more important. There are still plenty of engines painted the medium gray and people who will argue that their engines are painted the correct color. I even have a few painted the wrong color that I have not changed.
The correct color has been available from the Filling Station for many years.
Just what Chipper said. The paint on that engine in the photo did come from the Filling Station. Whether the color looks different in the photo or not, I don't know -- but it's a very Dark Blue-Gray and I've painted about six engines with it.
All the Best, Chip
