Does anyone know of a rebuilt, ready to drop in trani for my 32 Confederate Coupe? Or a replacement trani from another car that would fit without modification? I can't get rid of the squealing when I push in the clutch. I've tried oiling my new NOS throwout bearing but apparently that's not the problem. Thanks. tom griffith/madison wisc. 608-212-8774 lincoln1955@msn.com

If it happens when the clutch is pushed in the transmission is disengaged from the engine so a rebuilt tranny will not cure your problem.

The squealing is due to vibration most likely between the bearing and plate. I would make sure that the plate is smooth and mates squarely with the bearing. The bearing also must fit completely in the clutch fork and the fork is not bent or twisted. In a '32 you should be able to access the bearing through the opening in the top of the clutch housing. As an experiment try putting a teensy bit of chassis grease between the throwout bearing and the bearing plate. If that changes the noise then you will have located to source of the problem.

I agree with the above and oiling the bearing-may take some time for the oil to soak through the bearing.
