Does anyone have a picture of the correct 33 Master Gas Cap? Not sure the one on my car is right. Are 33 and 34 Masters the same?

I guess no one knows the answer. But a friend of mine has what he thinks is an original Gas Cap for his 34 Master Coupe which looks exactly like the one on my 33. Maybe they are the same? Maybe the one on my Coupe is not correct.

Jon, I can't help you with a picture of a factory-original gas cap for a '33, but, according to the 1941 parts book, group number 3.028, part number 595857 fits 1933-41. Look at the link and see if I am correct. Group number 3.028 starts on page 63 and continues on page 64.

Thanks Bill. If that's true then my 35's don't have the correct cap, oh well.

The 1935 parts book shows the following;
364594 for CA, DA
372696 for CA, DA,EA town sedan FOR DA
These are vented caps
A different cap is listed for sedan delivery and is not vented.

in general it is very confusing as to how gas caps were listed in the earlier years.

The pictures show the 1933-34 cap to be fairly flat with knurling around the edges.

If it's 3-3/4" it sounds like the right cap. My Parts Book dosen't show it but yours is probably better than mine.

I checked the cap on my 1934 Sedan and it is 3-3/4 " wide and 1/2 " deep. Knurled outside edge. It is actually two pieces sandwiched together, with venting between the two. No hole is drilled through the cap itself. The tab for the lock is marked EATON, so a supplier to Chevrolet apparently. I checked the company history and it does date back to the 20's.

I believe the edge might better be called "milled" and not "knurled". Milled edges are straight like the edge of a USA coin. Knurled edges can be straight as well as angled or cross hatched or ???? Many folks will think cross hatched if you use the term knurled.

Chipper is correct, milled is a better term. Edges are not smooth but milled for a better grip on the cap.
