Owned a 71 when I was young [1st car]. And have been looking hard for one the past several years. The problem that I'm having is that none of the 71's [ or what people are calling 71's ] are like the one I had [Should have kept the car and got rid of the girl]. Any way , the diffrences are the rear quarter window , mine was triangular. And the rear window ,mine was convex instead ov concave. I thank you for any info you gane give on this.

Hey TL; Hope you find your '71. I also had a '71 Impala and wish I still had it. Was my first real car. First set of wheels was a '68 Vauxhall. Not a real car.LOL. I also had a '71 Caprice(?)Was that a beautie. Got that one stolen. I've never seen another one before or after. Good Luck.

There were two Impala coupe bodies in 1971.The regular coupe had the triangular quarter window. The Impala Custom Coupe has the convex rear window. The Custom was the most popular and it was the same body as the Caprice used.

You are absolutely correct Chev Nut. I had the 350 in the Impala but the Caprice had a 402(?). Fully loaded with air cruise and pwr everything and tilt steering wheel. I'm not sure if I'm correct with the 402 though. Got any ideas Gene. Your knowledge amazes me. I have visions of you in a 40,000 square foot library with one of those ladders that have casters on them and hung from the top shelf. Chevy powered of course. lol. Cheers!!!

The base engine in the Bel Air was a 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder with the 8 cylinders optional.
The base engine in the Impala was the 350 with a 2 barrel....was the base option in the Bel Air.
The base engine in a Caprice was the small block 400 with a 2 barrel (I had one of those).
The optional engines were the 396 with a 4 barrel (actually was a 402) and various 454's.
I would assume the same engines were used in Canada.

That is partly incorrect. I am not old-old. I bought old-old parts from you back when you worked at Shogren Chevrolet in Hartland. Was about 1971 or 72. We do go back a few years. I remember two of the items, 1928 4 cylinder pistons and 1936 Standard hub caps.
