Did all 1931 5 window coupes come with an electrolock system installed? New guy here.

Yes. All 1931 Chevys were originally equipped with an electrolock. Over the years, many were converted to an unarmored aftermarket ignition switch because the electrolocks were prone to failure. If properly restored and installed, the electrolock system is very reliable.

To expand on the above: ALL 1929-32 Chevrolets came with a Delco-Remy "pop-out" electrolock that was connected to the side of the distributor.

Excellent! Thank you. I recently purchased a 1931 5 window job no 31567 literally out of a barn in Nebraska. It came with boxes of spare parts including
a distributor with the electrlock cable attached. Thanks for your help. This will be an interesting project. I was in the aviation part, no " haze grey : for me!

I definitely recommend that you join the VCCA, which offers lots of technical support and a great magazine focused on cars like your '31 as well as local chapters, meets, touring, etc. Join us! You'll be glad you did.

Actually I did join a few months back. 55637 is me. Also joined the Lone Star regional group here. Lots of experience and nice folks. Of course,
the last time I joined up so much, they sent me to sunny S.E. Asia! Thanks for the welcome.
