Got my 40 from a guy who put gear oil in the steering box. It is now leaking. Should I take the box out, replace the seal, and fill it with Cornhead grease? Can I just drain the old oil out and fill it up or do I need to clean it out with another fluid before I put in the Cornhead Grease? If I take the top off the box to replace the seal am I in for any surprises? After that I'll set it up according to the manual. Any advice is appreciated.

I just started putting (adding) corn head grease in mine. If it leaked like mine, it will not be long that it's all changed.

I would add some chassis grease to thicken it up a little. You bushing or seal must have a lot of clearence.
