Hello All, I have been a member for a while but I think this is my first post. My project is rebuilding a frozen manifold heat control valve (heat riser) with a missing baffle (the flap thing) on my 35 Master Deluxe Sport Sedan w/ 206.8 (207). When removing the manifolds in this project, I took the carburetor off of the intake manifold and in the intake manifold, laying below the carburetor was a curved piece of stainless steel 1 1/4" diameter and 1 1/4" high (like a piece of pipe cut in half lengthwise). I thought it might be a sleeve for the carburetor to manifold insulator, but the piece of metal has a much smaller diameter than the inside diameter of the insulator. Anybody know what it is? ![[Linked Image from holve.com]](http://www.holve.com/brad/1935ChevyMasterDeluxeSportSedan/IMAG3699-1.jpg) ![[Linked Image from holve.com]](http://www.holve.com/brad/1935ChevyMasterDeluxeSportSedan/IMAG3700-1.jpg) A project pic ![[Linked Image from holve.com]](http://www.holve.com/brad/1935ChevyMasterDeluxeSportSedan/IMAG3703-1.jpg)

It does not look like anything I have ever seen. By any chance does your 1935 have a plate riveted to the valve cover and one on the dash indicating your car has the optional economy engine?

Thanks! "It does not look like anything I have ever seen." is what everybody I asked has said. There is a part that I can't identify in the parts list: ![[Linked Image from holve.com]](http://www.holve.com/brad/1935ChevyMasterDeluxeSportSedan/partslist1.JPG) ![[Linked Image from holve.com]](http://www.holve.com/brad/1935ChevyMasterDeluxeSportSedan/partslist2.JPG) The image in the parts list online is too blurry to identify but sounds right. But you would think it would be the same diameter as the inside diameter of the carburetor to manifold insulator.

That part is a thin stamped steel sleve that fits inside of the insulator. It was used with the original laminated insulator. Not used with the present one piece replacement moulded insulator. I would suspect your mystery part is something some one dropped in either by accident or unknow reason.

Thanks! That would jibe with my suspicion that it was some snake oil salesman's product or some supposed fuel saving device from Popular Mechanics.
