yes. you'll need the accessory mounting brackets from a 72 big block pass car. if you're pulling a 454 out of the 72 impala, just remove all the accessories from it and re-attach them to the truck big block. good luck, mike

Thanks Mike. Im pulling a 350 from the Impala. When you say accessories do you mean A/C or do you mean such things as alt, p/steer, starter. Im also putting a Th400 behind the 454. Does this change anything where the old TH350 came out? Thanks for your input. Darryl

the TH400 will fit--you may have to fabricate tranny mount but it shouldn't be a big deal. by brackets, i mean alternator, power steering pump, AC comp, and smog pump brackets if it'll be re-attached. you'll also need the appropriate Big block pulleys for correct belt alignments. . either sb or bb starter ought to work.be sure to use a 454 flywheel which were externally balanced, unlike the 350 flywheel. mike

I believe the transmissions have a different overall length (which is why Mike said you might need a different cross member) and possiably a different output spline for the drive shaft.

Thanks Guys - Happy New Year - from the bottom of the world - How would a TH350 take the 454?

it'll hold up under NORMAL driving conditions. put some slicks under it, up HP of the 454 to about 500 or better, and the TH 350 will be toast before too long. wouldn't pull a trailer with a th350 either.mike
