38 Master Deluxe with factory S1. The knob on the inside of car doesn’t rotate the lamp anymore. Was wondering if anyone has had success disassembling the mechanicals and how?

I restored mine. Here are a few pictures of it before I had it rechromed. Let me know if you have any questions or need more pictures.

Nice job on the pictures. Guess I’ll need to dig in.

I was able to disassemble the ends. The gears seem to be in good shape. Any ideas as to why the knob doesn’t turn very much? It feels like it hits a hard stop of some kind. But the spotlight head doesn’t rotate at all.

it's probably just gummed up. make sure you take everything apart, clean it, and put it back together. I used white lithium grease. the ball handle does have a stop, so it rotates so far, then stops and has to rotate the other direction.

How do you get the shafts apart? I have a gear at each end.

That was interesting. Got everything apart. The inner rod was pretty rusted . Cleaned and lubed it. All the mechanicals work now. Maybe too well. What controls the tension for the lamp bucket? It wants to flop over. I don’t want it hitting the body.
