I need to remove the universal joint on my 32 1 1/2 ton truck. It has a single piece tailshaft. I removed the speedo drive. I slid the ball back and removed two spring clips. But the universal joint is too far forward, inside the housing at the rear of the gearbox, so I cant see how to proceed. This uni joint does not have bolts holding the two parts together like my 27 Capitol, it is a heavier forging. The manual says to drive out the cross-shafts but they are inside the housing.
I hoped that I could slide the tailshaft back on the splines but it does not move under reasonable pressure. Perhaps it is seized at the spline on the differential end?

To get better coverage to your question regarding your 1932 truck you might want to post in the 1929-1932 forum or the Trucks and Vans forum instead. Those two forums are further down on the forum list page.
