Got my 40 running yesterday. It looks like someone tried spitting the exhaust manifold. Well they did a really bad job. So I'm looking for a new one. Going to try swap meets. Does anyone what other years will fit this?

By what I can find out most if not all 216 manifolds will bolt up to the head but the exhaust pipe may be that easy, but if you can use a welder that can be overcome.

As mentioned they all bolt up to the head OK but the angle of the exhaust outlet is at various angles. The 1940-1948 are the same and the casting number on the manifold is 839140.

If you do not have any luck finding what you want locally then check out ebay. Exhaust manifold. I also have a set (exhaust/intake manifolds) or just the damaged manifold to sell if you do not have any luck. Mine are all cleaned up (sandblasted) with a working damper and new damper spring.Exhaust manifolds are made of cast iron so should be handled carefully to keep from being damaged. Some EXPERIENCED welders know how to weld cast iron. The studs holding the parts together are prone to rust in place and should be left alone (not removed) unless you know what you are doing or the threads are worn off. A variety of products are available to coat or paint the manifolds which I highly recommend for appearance sake and to stop the rusting process. We have dealt with mounting issues which may cause the manifolds to leak (especially vacuum issues) in past posts so do a search to read what has already been posted. Here is one of my old posts Manifold heat control valve

Send me a PM if you want more info on a set of my manifolds.
Good luck and welcome to posting on our site,
Mike
