I use a battery disconnect when my 37 MD is shut down so when I connect it prior to starting the engine I always pull the light switch to make sure I have a good connection. I had lights two days ago when I started the engine but today the headlights and tail lights were dead. The engine started fine, I have brake lights and dash lights--the fuse looked good but I replaced it just in case, still no lights. According to my literature it could be a bad connection in the light switch--unless I'm missing something. If it is the switch, I'm wondering if I could widen the search to other years in the hope of finding something that could work.

I think the dash lights prove that the fuse is good. It could be the dimmer switch. Have you tried both upper and lower beams?

That idea has not crossed my mind--so I just checked it out and BINGO! That was it! Do you think I should replace it?

Sometimes that switch will short and that can be worse. I looked this up a while ago and I think the switch is the same as used in the Chev pickups, well into the fifties. Where I live I can get one of those overnight because there is such a huge market for pickup parts.
