Can anyone identify the cars in this photo? This was the American Squadron of the British Home Guard which was made up of Americans living in Briton when the war started. It numbered virtually all the U.S. press correspondents and journalists posted to London. It was officially allowed by a special order of King George VI to cover the laws regarding foreign nationals serving in this country in time of war when the US was not yet a belligerent. They used the vehicles they brought with them.

VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!
The first car appears to be about a 1934 Packard with "English required head lights. Next car a1937 Olds or Buick. Picture too blurry to see the rest. Packads and Buicks were popularUS cars in England at that time.
My guess would be the second car is a Buick. The cars show partially blacked out headlights and I presume the grills were blacked out also. The Buick had vertical grill bars and in an unclear photo such as this, I believe the grill would appear as a solid mass due to how close the bars were, especially if blacked out. The Oldsmobile had horizontal grill bars that were quite widely spaced. Since there are highlights visible on the cars, on the tops of the fenders, the bumpers, the hood, etc., I think if it were an Olds, the widely spaced grill bars would show some highlighted stripes even if very vague. I do not think it would appear as a solid mass as the grill on the second car appears. But as Gene says, the picture is blurry and thus everything about it is conjecture or, at best, an educated guess! Beamer
Thank guys. Trying to confirm this unit used all American vehicles. This is a still from a Brit newsreel showing Churchill inspecting the American Squadron.
