Help! Painter lost the ferrules that I had so I am again looking for hens teeth.
Part number is 371228 and 12 are needed. Even one would allow me to look for a substitute.

according to my 1940 Chevrolet parts book they are listed as GROUP 8.051 SPRING---FASTENER---FERRULE..........as you stated part Number 371228 1933 only.
Unfortunately no picture of the parts. Give iandireproductions, filling station and Am muscle on ebay a look up. Also ebay seller DESOLDCAR in KY.

Hi again Mike,
Thanks, that's it. I'll give DESOLD car a call. He is within driving distance from me and has come through for me before but doubtful he would remove them from a hood if he has one.

you might have to buy the hood sides to get the ferrules and then sell the hood less ferrules. Depends on price of a pair of hood panel complete

I just remembered that ROOTLIEB INC 1..209..632..2203 makes hoods for early chevys. They do not do the 33 master with doors , but they do do the 32 Chevrolet hood with doors.
Maybe those ferrules are part of their hood door opening system ?

What are these pieces? Those "clips" the hood vent doors pivot on? Doug

In addition to the 12 clips there are 12 flanged bushings that align the doors. The doors actually pivot on the bushings. The clips hold it all together. Without the bushings doors can be loose and out of alignment. In one instance the tip of the chrome handle scratched the hood when the door was opened.

If the ferrule is a round flanged bushing, they can be easily spun out on a small lathe. You could make them out of brass, stainless, mild steel, Delrin, just about anything.
I peered in with flashlight at my doors, but wasn't sure what i was looking for. I did notice the top of one of the doors has a small machine screw and nut as the pivot rather than clip like the others. I will have to see what can be done, there.

I stand corrected on the description. As I looked through my parts yet again I remembered them more as a dished washer which has a 1/4" hole in the middle, probably brass.
Sorry Doug. I have extra hood doors salvaged from an old car but no extra clips or ferrules. If I had one of those clips I would be happy to send it to you.

Try a search for Belleville washer. I think thats how it is spelled, Belleville washers are dished washers which compress a bit, you can get different thicknesses. You may even try looking for wave washers, which would probably work also. McMaster Carr has them, IIRC. Doug

Sounds to me like you need to find a new painter for your next project.

Thanks Doug, I have tried every description I could imagine on Google but those did not come up as options and I didn't think of them. That might just be the ticket.

Vila,
Like your website. It goes without saying but good painters are hard to come by here. The person who did may fenders flawlessly backed out on me after I had the body stripped to bare metal due to his booming insurance business. I met by chance an painter who has done many antique cars in the past but did not realize he is now an octogenarian albeit a very active one. None of us can escape ageing.
Like your website and the '33. Too bad you did not get one of the excellent reproduction floor mats when they were available. The die is now worn out so those available today are not so great. My starterator has worked perfectly for me for more than 50 years and more than 20,000 miles.

The Wave disc may work well, if the Belleville is too thick. I would think thin brass bellevilles would be best, but they would need to be thin, maybe .005"-.010"? Here is the McMaster page: https://www.mcmaster.com/#belleville-spring-washers/=1e1jklwDoug
