Another question for the forum. I've found and installed a new old stock wiper motor on my 31. It works but slow, is it possible inject a little oil into the vacuum tube to help lubricate it or does it have to come apart. Also I have only tried it on a dry windshield, I expect it will work better when water is on it.

Any oil injected into the vacuum line will only go to the engine since the running engine creates the vacuum and draws air. If you can disconnect the line at the wiper motor and get some lubricant like ATF into the motor then work the arms both ways to distribute the lubricant. That might help. Take the motor apart would be my last resort.
Good Luck

Thank you I'll try that way, I really didn't want to take it apart.

You said it was a New Old Stock. The key word there would be "old" as in the lubricant inside is probably dried and or gummed up. It will most likely have to come apart to be cleaned and re-lubed. Also check if the seals has hardened with time as well.

Dip the wiper hose in some ATF and move the wiper back and forth by hand. This will draw the fluid into the motor. Let stand a day or two and give it a try. If improves give it another treatment. Yes, the old grease in the motor has to be softened.

Not sure if is the same as the one on the 1929, but i tore my apart and rebuilt it, so you canlook at the pictures and see the guts and HOW it works.

The 1931 looks similar but has a switch built in to the motor. There is a linkage that goes through the header and has a knob inside for operating the wiper at top of windshield. 1928-29-30 used a valve on the dash.
