Hello, I'm hoping someone here can help. My dad had a little fender bender and has had no luck finding steel fenders for his '32 chevy. He asked me to help him with an online search. I found this site and thought I'd give it a try! Photos here. You can email him directly here: arandabaca@gmail.com. Thank you! Vickie

Those Fenders can be straightened, even by a not so great body man like me. It may cost a little to do it but compared to the cost of replacements you'de be much better off. And finding a good pair will be extremely difficult. There are good body men,(maybe a retired one) who could straighten them in a day.

Take the bent parts off and drop them at a shop. This way they can be repaired easily and properly and the cost will be reasonable. Most bodymen with experience will have no problem with this. I think it would be very hard to find parts in better condition as most are rusted and dented...

In addition to the fenders, the fender braces, radiator shell will need to be pulled and straightened. A good body man can fix them for far less $$$$ than replacement. It may take a little searching as most body people today are replace, mud, sand and paint.

Before you allow anybody to take hammer and dolly to the fenders you want to see what the repair person is capable of skills wise. It always looks easy but you can do a lot of damage when you are not trained in the arts of shrink and stretch . This smack is more complicated than it looks. So unless you want a BONDO MANIAC filling all the low spots after beating up your fender, be careful with your selection of person.
Price should not even be a consideration, if you want the job done right.

I agree with all of the above, a good hammer and dolly man can straighten those out without the mud (I would need mud). Most will find it easier to do withe the fenders attached to the car as they dont bounce all over the bench while he is working on them. Inspect some of his previous work (and what is in the workshop if you can) will help you decide his capability. Tony

A hammer and dolly person who also uses heat and shrink methods will probably be hard to find but the results of one that is proficient can be amazing. I sold two 33 rear fenders that were in rough shape and the body man used heat only and they came out perfect. They had some serious dents, not minor dings and still the body man got them back in correct shape without ever touching them with a hammer.
