......I shook hands to close the deal on a '53 210 with the 235/Powerglide. The paint sucks & the interior is a tad faded since it's been parked outside the nine years he's owned it but the body is perfect and it runs like a top. We swap money & title Monday. The '38 will have some company in the garage it seems. This won't be a restoration project. I'll make sure it's mechanically sound then just drive it. It'll probably make it's club debut on the SFT in October.

VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!
Tiny, don't know that you will ever need anything but one of my best friends has an old '53 2dr. sedan that is basically a parts car for his 53 streetrod. IF you ever need some odd part just let me know and I'll check for you.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hubcap than ride in a Ferd.
Thanks Alvin. I noticed when driving it that the turn signal canceling mechanism doesn't work. You might hit him up to see how much he wants for his turn signal mechanism if his works. Also, if his has power steering I might be in the market for that set up (pump, brackets, pulleys, steering box, etc.). The wife's going to be driving the car as well and the low speed steering is a bear.

Turn signal does not cancel on 1953 and 1954 models usually caused by collar under steering wheel sliding down too far. (check gap between steering wheel and housing)....slide housing up and tighten wedge screw on bottom of housing.
Congrats on your new purchase Tiny! I hope you enjoy it. Back in the day my Mom and I each had a a '53 and my Grand father had a '54. When I was 16 we drove his '54 Bel Air to California and back and after my wife and I were married for a couple years we took a trip with my Mom from Iowa to Yellowstone park and back in her '53 210. My '53 was a Bel Air but it was pretty worn out compared to the other two cars. LOL They were actually pretty nice cars in their day!
Hey Tiny, Looks like a great find! If I could sell my '38, it looks like something I would like to find after my move south. Too old to start the restoration bit again. Beamer
Very nice Tiny! Excellent find for a very original car!
My second car was a 1953 2 door Bel Air with Powerglide. It had a couple of burned exhaust valves when we bought it. I "helped" my Father rebuild the head one Saturday at the local Ford tractor dealership.
After that it burned a lot more oil past the rings due to the better sealing of the valves. I knew when to add oil because the lifters would collapse when going uphill!
Tiny, that is a really nice looking 53. You are going to get all spoiled with the luxury of it. It is nice to have two to drive. I find i don't worry about my repair taking too long when there is another to drive! I hope that you have a lot of fun with it.
Fred
My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .
I didn't say that they looked great, beautiful, supreme, gorgeous, lovely, spectacular (see Seinfeld), or better. I merely said they looked OK, nothing more.
On a two-ten they look out of place, as they do on all critters.
A 210 does need a set of fender skirts. Badly need. Essentially needed. Downright butt ugly without them. How ugly? Well, Al Capp's "Lena the Hyena" ugly comes to mind. That's how ugly. That is because of that big hole in the fenders that look like something is missing. Something big is missing. Yep!
Tiny,
Before you do anything to that excellent car, go on line and get yourself a set of fender skirts. They are more essential than brakes because you should be ashamed to go anywhere without them. And, for the love of Betsy don't put no stinkin' fulton on it. Just the skirts.
Best,
Charlie
BTW: The above comments regarding the 53 210 are not intended to disrespect anyones ride. Just pointing out the obvious.
