It seems a lot of these cars display the front plate by hanging it from the light bar in front of the radiator.
I had the one on mine zip tied to the bar until I could figure out a better place for it.
I looked everywhere for clamp-on holders but couldn't find anything I wanted.
Just today I thought of something and made a bracket to mount the plate in a good place without disturbing air flow through the radiator.
I used the bumper support bracket as a mounting location, made a bracket of 1/8" × 1 3/4" which I bent into a close fitting "U" to slide over the bumper support and dilled a "pinch hole" at the bottom to squeeze the the bracket to the support.
I welded a piece of 1/8" × 1" flat iron to the closed end and drilled it for the plate.
Perfect....... :)

I have a 32 special sedan and have been looking to do something very similar to mine. I don't want the plate blocking the air flow to the radiator either and didn't like the look of the plate there. Yours looks great, thanks for pics.

Beginning in 1933, Chevy had a front plate holder mounting on the right front bumper bracket. These are available through FS and work great on 1932.

I looked at the FS catalog until my eyes were ready to fall out.
I even took a reference screen shot of a holder which turned out to be useless on my car........that's when my brain kicked in....... yay

Steve from TFS here. Click this link to see the front license bracket for 1933 Chevy. It does work on 1929-1932 models for those that don't want to mount in front of the radiator as original: https://www.fillingstation.com/shop/?year=All&vehtype=All&search=af-116&searchtype=FT

Rather than start a new thread I figured I'd add to this one.
A while ago I got roped into helping out a neighboring church arrange a tractor/car/truck display at the their annual church picnic as their regular ball games fizzled out and they wanted to utilize the space.
I got the ball rolling and committed to showing my Confederate to help them out on a first time thing.
I checked the antifreeze which was a bit low.......don't THINK it leaked at the pump but maybe just took a long time to burp itself.
At any rate I topped it off but was still a little anxious as to whether or not it would overheat as the air temperature is 87-88º.
I was more than surprised when the temp needle settled in at just over the NORMAL mark......and stayed there....... yipp
The engine never skipped a beat and I'm now assured I can drive it anywhere I want to go.
This is also Iola Old Car Show week so I put on my own little show heading the 20 odd miles to and from the event.
I'm glad I went in spite of the heat. yay

Isn't it great when a plan comes together? When the cooling system is in good shape they can tolerate the heat even as high as the 90s in a parade. We have done that several times with the Boss's '31 Fire Truck. Also on long grades in hot weather and up to 9000 feet on VCCA tours. All the time without a front license plate.

Yes it is Chipper!
I believe much had to do with getting the license plate out of the way.
It wasn't pushing a wall of air to the sides and preventing air getting to where it needs to get.
On a side note I flushed the system with a base solution, right after we got it running again, as I've done with all my cars.
When I drained the solution it came out crystal clear so that was a real good sign too.
At any rate today was the test from hell and it passed with flying colors.
