I had come to appreciate the new "Active Threads" function of our site's update. I am now having reservations about using the function to flood our site with items for sale as cabboy is choosing to do. Is this really in everyone's best interest? Is anyone else concerned? There are so many positives about this new function to have it relegated to selling parts. What if Chevy's of the 40's or the Filling Station, or a few of us with extra parts decided to join in?
VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. This is what "The World's Best Chevrolet Club" is all about!
The Active Threads function has always been available. I've been using it for years to see what current discussions are happening.
Similarly, when a new posting is made in a thread, it always has popped up to the top of the active threads list.
That being said, some of the sellers of parts have different approaches to posting their wares.
Some folks put the year in the title and then use one post for a bunch of parts. Then, when some of the parts are sold, they post a second post with the parts left. I personally like this approach as it doesn't fill up two pages of postings on the active threads list.
I agree that it is annoying when someone uses a lot of posts for a lot of parts that could've been put in a single post with a list of the parts.
I would suggest that anyone reading this should consider composing their for sale post in the same way they would post it in the G&D.
My two cents, Dean

Dean 'Rustoholic' Meltz old and ugly is beautiful!
Yep... It's always been there. Some guys just take a bit longer to appreciate its function
When I created the structure of the Chat site (a million years ago) , one bit of input that I got from a bunch of "dudes" was not to lock people into "years" too much. Their rationale was that a lot of Chevy info sometimes spans many, many years - and - applies to different models. So when I activated the ACTIVE TOPICS feature, I let it cross ALL forums and ALL years. It's kind of one-stop-shopping for all things Chevrolet.
Here's a screen shot from 2011 which shows the Active Topics on the menu bar.

I'm not much of an explorer so never discovered the ACTIVE THREADS function until trying to figure out how to best use our updated website. Once I became familiar with it I saw this as a short cut to finding out the latest post topics. Now it takes me a little less time on our site. Thanks to Bill and Dean for broadening my understanding. I especially like the updates made to posting pictures.
