The car we bought in AZ last year at some time had a radio. I would like to someday get a radio back in it. My question is - there is an extra stop on the ignition switch past being able to start the car that turns off the ignition points, is that a correct switch for this car? Is that extra stop to enable voltage to the radio without power being applied to the points? In other words to run the radio without running the car? It has the original "starterator" so it does not need to be able to start the car. That extra stop is not spring loaded like a newer ignition switch.

Not original. The recommended way was to wire the radio so the radio could be used only when the switch was on. Often changed so radio could be used with switch off (its only other position) but you have to be carefull and the high draw of the radio can killl the battery is short order...

Thanks Gene, I have not checked out if the contact is on with the switch in the second position or not.
