My friend had his 1952 Chevy two-door sedan "t-boned," and, of course, the guy didn't have any insurance. He needs the driver's door. Any suggestions?

Have you posted an ad in the Parts Wanted forum?

We need to know which model of 1952 two-door your friend has. There are Fleetline and Styleline 2-door sedans, Bel-Air 2-door hardtops, Deluxe convertibles, and 2-door coupes. Each of these models takes a different door. My suggestion would be to contact one of the old-car wrecking yards in Arizona or Texas (you'll see them advertising in Hemmings) for they might have a door that is rust-free. Good luck on your search.

Not to make you feel bad, but several years ago, I was looking for a good parts car for parts to fit a '51 two-door Styleline sedan. I found scads of 4-doors, coupes, a few Fleetlines but not one two door sedan. I finally found a good one about 1500 miles from my home, went out, bought it and trailered it home. I could have sold it several times over to the hot-rod/customs boys who spotted it on the trailer wherever I stopped.

I was told a door from a 1949-1952 Styleline 2-door sedan will work. 1949-1952 Chevy or Pontiac will do. Thanks,

Back in the day, my mom was t-boned driving our 52 2dr sedan back in 1959. The dealer removed the door, replaced the door skin, and re-installed it.

If the door frame is not ruined, you might consider taking it to a body shop and have a new door skin installed. EMS automotive in Cleveland may have the oem skins, but any decent metal man could fab one easily. Might be a better alternative to replacing the entire door, but many factors apply. Internal components might need replacing too. Ebay is a good source.

I believe the door frame is ruined. Will look at it closely to make sure. The skin idea is a good one. Thanks,

You have to get a '51 or '52 door. The doors for '49 and '50 are different.

OK. Thanks. Pontiac for 51 or 52 would work, too. Right?
