The regulators, from what I see, have been done and redone over the years so I want to make sure I get it right the first time.

It appears the originals had a rubber, or leather type washers that the side of the roller rubbed against as the window rolled up and down. This is all that is left on the "studs" on the regulator.

I have new Plastic rollers to put on the studs and I have that figured out. My question is, with the plastic replacement rollers they will not fit the width with a rubber or leather washer on the stud. The plastic rollers will take up the entire width of the stud and leave no room for a washer of any kind......The plastic roller has a little "lip" on each side of the hole which I think is what keeps it from binding when rolling up.
So tell me guys, am I on the right track with this? I can get the original studs out to put the rollers on and the fit with just the plastic rollers measure out to be just right.
Any tips appreciated. Seems most rollers these days are not like the originals or it has been my experience on other jobs.
Thanks

The following post on 1941-48 Window Regulators should help clear up any confusion on this topic.

Good Luck, Mike

Thank you Mike, Nice job on the tech tip. It confirms what I suspected. I'm going the same route. Blasted them in the cabinet last week and put some paint on them. I hate rust!!!!

I'm lucky that I have a friend who does some machine shop work at his house and he has cut me other "rivets" in the past so I'm going to get him to cut me a few out of stainless and ping/cinch them. Now if I can just find some extra time.
