Hi
I am in UK and have a 1930 SR. It is RHD and came from Uruguay. However in its murky history is the suggestion that it went from Uruguay to California for 3-4 years and then came to uk around 1970.
Is there any way to check if the car was registered in California in the 1960s?
The frame no. is 2AD47269 and the engine no. R175931
If anyone can help I would be most grateful as I have a fairly full history from its time in UK, but nothing earlier.

There were no frame numbers on Chevrolets in 1930. The number that you posted is the actual "car serial number". The "2" in your car serial number indicates that your car was manufactured in the Tarrytown, New York factory. The "R" prefix on the engine number indicates that your vehicle is a right-hand drive.

Thanks for that, I knew those details but what I want to find out if such a car might be registered in California at that time. Is there any sort of database for such registrations? Chevrolet themselves claim to have no records from the 1930s.
I have completely restored the car to the extent that last year it won our vintage club concours- against stiff competition, so I would like to find out any earlier details if at all possible.

Sorry Peter, California does not keep records older than seven years old. They got rid of all the paper records a number of years ago and all that is left is in the computer. I tried to find ownership records for my 1928 truck from the 1950's and found out about the destruction of the old records. ;-(
