I am going to try and repair the front windshield so it raises up as it is supposed to. Can someone tell me what holds the windshield crank on or does it need to be removed to get header off to get to the mechanism that works the windshield?

Check to see which way the clip is installed as I believe the tool is made to remove the clip by spreading the legs from the open end.

I have been taking mine apart with a screwdriver for years. When the clip comes out it is spring loaded and it will pop out as it goes past center. Be ready to catch it or watch where it goes.

After working all day on repairing the windshield mechanism its working pretty well now. No one told me I didn't have to remove the crank to get the header board off to get to the mechanism ,but live and learn. Everything I read said the windshield should move up 2 to 3 inches, mine only goes up 1 inch before hitting the top. It will let air in and is working ,I am pleased. Thanks for all the help fellas. Ron

Not sure about how high it should rise but from closed when turned to the right you should get five "clicks"to fully raised.

not sure mine opens 2-3 inches, i would say at least 1 inch.
and should be 4 screws holding the board in ??
if the mechanism is bad, you can get a rebuild kit, new gears, and such. had that done to mine. works great now !!
