Thinking about buying a '22 car that has all the mechanical restoration done. The rolling, running chassis is finished. I don't know the machine shop or the person who assembled the mechanicals. How far apart should I tear it to check things out? Oil pan off? Head off? What would you do? Thanks.

One quite simple check that I suggest is if there is a free play in the rear axle, indicating damage on the differential thrust bearing an the ring and pinion gears. On this thread you can read my tips for a simple check.
