When I first started driving this car I quickly learned I had to double clutch when shifting between gears. I had no one around to rely on that told me this was necessary.
However, I still don't know if this car is able to "downshift" from third gear into second w/o coming to a complete stop, almost. I am not able to avoid the "gear grinding". ( I back off immediately)
Am I doing something wrong that makes it hard/impossible to downshift without coming to (almost) a complete stop?

I quickly learned I had to double clutch when shifting between gears. Have to double clutch shifting down more so than going up, have to match the RPMs in engine and transmission, takes a ton of practice and feel. I am still trying to learn. Was just reading a post about this on AACA: Double Clutching

bauer, atleast for my '30 it's double-clutch up, double-clutch down. learn this little dance and the shifter just "floats" into gear. nothing's wrong. you'll get it in a weekend. pax, jim

Try to remember this thought. When shifting UP the engine RPMs should be down, when shifting DOWN the RPMs should be up. To shift from 3rd to 2nd. Push in the clutch, place the shifter in neutral. Let out the clutch, hit the gas fairly hard. Push in the clutch and shift from 3rd to 2nd gear. You have to move the lever with some conviction, and not let it grind. Once you get the hang of it, it will come easier.
