When i replaced the rear springs on my 38 Master, I got to observe how the center bolt on the spring moves to the rear as the spring was jacked or compressed into place. In the last say 3/4" of height, the center bolt moved back over a 1/4" and eventually lined up with the hole in the perch. I got to thinking of what happens driving down then road. When the axle is moving up and down, that center point would be trying to move back and forth, front to back. However the axle housing is constrained by the torque tube. So my question is, does the torque tube actually slide in and out at the forward joint allowing the axle assembly to move front to back or is the spring totally restrained?
