Hi guys,
Im new to this, and I hope I'm at the right place even though my Matiz (manufactured in 2005) M200 is a "modern" car compared to the ones which you guys seem to be talking about mostly here :)
Since a few days, the engine shuts down when pressing the acceleration pedal, so we gave the car to a garage. First they told it's probably either the steering pump or the air compressor. Now after they changed the steering pump which didnt fix the problem, they told it's surely the air compressor.
Do you guys know whether this could be valid? Could a bad bearing really block the belt to cause a engine which goes off? Im wondering why this seems to happen when pressing the acceleration pedal and not already in idle mode? I mean in idle, the car doesnt provide much torque, is it? So why can it still cope with the blocking bearing?
Is the steering pump and the air compressor on the same belt, which I just assume now!? In case yes -> is there a short belt available from some third party manufacturer to bypass the air compressor and only connect the crankshaft and steering pump? I could live without the AC here in germany... ;-)
Thank you very much in advance
ANY HELP IS MUCH APPRECIATED
