My 40 MDSS came with only the drivers side sunvisor. It measures approximately 17.5 inches long and 5 7/8 inches top to bottom. I decided to order a new pair so the passenger side would have one. The new sunvisor arrived today and measures only 14.5 inches long and 5 inches tall. This isn't even close to the original sunvisor. This is the replacement sunvisor for 1937-40 Chevy's.

Why is the replacement so much smaller? What are the dimensions supposed to be? I and I Reproduction, Chevs of the 40's, and The Filling Station seem to have the same product and dimensions. (My pair came from I and I Reproduction.)

Does any company make the sunvisors with the same dimensions as my original ones?
Will I need to use these smaller ones and buy that center interior sunvisor accessory (fits backside of rear view mirror, ridiculous price of $350.00 plus shipping)?

Thanks
Curt

You might try Hampton Coach or have one made up locally. They can make the visor to size I believe if they do not have them in stock. When I got my sunvisor for my 32 from them it was too large but the installer was a former HC employee and he cut it down to the same size as the original.

Not sure about the 40, but I purchased a driver's side and mounted it on the passenger's side of my 33. They were the same and even the hardware was the same.

In 1940 the right and left would be the same except for the bracket.
In 1941 the left and right are diffeerent due to the wing screw used for extending the visor.
The 1942-1948 are the same (except Fleetline 2 door) as they have a friction devise for extending and would work on a 1940.
The 1937-1940 visor brackets are the same and the complete visor would work on a 1940.

How is the fiber or card board replaced on a 1941 interior driver side sunvisor? The board is broke at the metal bar location. It just flops down.
