We are making progress on the '49 3100 1/2 ton pickup.

Within the next month we anticipate that we will be ready to install the wiring harness.

One point that confuses us is the fact that there appear to be 3 different harnesses for the AD trucks. The listings we are looking at show one harness for 47 - 49, one for 50-52, and one for 53-54.

What makes these different? We think we might want a 50-52 harness because we do plan to have right tail light.

Order the wiring harness for your exact year of truck. There were major wiring changes made in each of the years groups mentioned. The right tail light was a dealer installed accessory for all. Mention that accessory to the harness builder.

If the vendor you are purchasing the harness from actually offers the 3 different choices of harnesses.... they seem to be aware of the major differences between the different years of trucks.

Watch out for the guys that offer a "one size fits all " harness for all 1947-1954 trucks.


I would not recommend that you order the 50-52 harness for your 49 truck, as the main firewall fuse box for 50-52's has a fuse box that uses only 2 fuses.

The 47-50 trucks use a firewall fuse box that has 5 fuses.

Order only the '47-'49 harness for your '49 truck .
