Behind the front seat backs on a 41 are two (one each seat) thin pieces of metal shaped like a upsde dwon "U." Question is: What color were these and/or were they chromed, etc. I need to know for the project car. On my 41 SD coupe they seem to be a sort of brown color. I want to get it right so your imput would be helpful.

Thanks,
Charlie computer

This is used on convertibles and Master Deluxe and Special Deluxe club coupes only. It frames the depression on the back of the front seat. The depression is designed to add a bit more knee room in the back seat.
In the 1941 parts book it is in group 14.823 , part numbers 4116805 and 806.
They are not showm for 1946-1948 models in the 1948 book but the 1941 book lists them for 1940 models under a different part number.
I would bet that they were stainless steel to match all interiors on coupes and convetibles.

The ones on my 41 convertible were brown colored also, definitely not stainless. A couple of the nails broke were I removed them so I replaced them by welding on studs from a dent removal tool. I don't recall whether I painted them to match the heater case or the emergency brake handle but will check later. Mike

Thank You.
That looks like a neutral color that would have worked with any color interior including the "cloth" coupes.

Thanks, guys. I think I'll just go with a brown color. Seems that chrome would look good also but I want to keep the project as close to original as I can.

Charlie I thought mine were chrome or stainless. I checked and they are brown . I am not sure but I believe mine are original. Special Deluxe 5 pass. Coupe. JIM
