Power steering is a 'bolt-on' accessory for your car. Find a 'donor' car and remove all of the components of the PS to include all the bolts and nuts. Rebuild the unit (kits are available) clean and paint and install on your car.

Make sure to change the steering box as well. It has a quicker ratio than the manual box. You'll also need to add the pulley to the crank and replace the water pump pulley. Don't forget the sway bar bracket, as it is the mount for the slave cylinder pushrod.

"change steering box as well"---only if donner car was factory equipped with P/S.Many P/S units were dealer installed in 1963.Not quite sure as to how this could be determined if gear is out of car????????

Not sure how you would do that with the gear out of the car....In the car it would be steering wheel turns from lock to lock..out of the car the steering stops don't come into play so may be rather difficult unless both gears were side by side.
In 1964 I had a demonstrator with dealer installed P/S...The steering was easy but very slow. Was like 5 turns lock to lock...I believe the P/S gear was around 4 which is stll slow by todays standards.
All 1958 used the faster steering ratio for both and with out P/S they steered like trucks.
