Looking to add a mirror for a 30 sport coupe dual side mount.
Has anyone had experience with the one that attaches to the side mount spare.
Would you recommend one on each side?
Where the side mount mirrors an option?
thanks Dave

I have the aftermarket side mount mirrors that attach with leather straps. Once I tightened them as much as I dared they don't move much. The one on the drivers side sorta works as a vehicle passing mirror. The one on the passenger side kinda/sorta works for the Boss to see what is behind. The driver can't even see a teensy part of that one. Bottom line is they look better than they function.

Sidemount mirrors were not an option......they were a dealer added accessory.

Been trying to figure out the same myself. Based on the feedback of poor visibility using the side mount mirrors, door mounted clamp on style seemed the way to go, but The Filling Station said there would not be enough space between the door and frame. Good luck!

The lack of space on the clamp on style maybe be true on some body years. I have the 4" clamp on style on doors on my 1934--1935 standard.

I think that filling station maybe responding to very tight clearances between door and body openings. They attach with set screws and you may have to take grinder GENTLY to the bottom where they go over the door, or possible the bend area where mirror frame may contact door jamb.

Mine fit fine without any mods, got them from I&I reproductions

My 35 touring has the mirrors mounted off the top irons........left on right and right on the left. Roadster will have aluminum brackets fabricated to screw to wood frame of door **inside** and mount motor cycle mirrors to the brackets.

I have a pair of the strap-on mirrors my '32.
The one on the passenger side has an extremely narrow field of vision but it's good enough to prevent smashing the fender when backing up.
The one on the driver's side has a much better field of vision but between the two and an accessory, clip on, wide rear view mirror I've got everything covered.

I have been considering getting the side mount mirrors , greatful for some feed back . I put a 4 inch clamp on mirror on the drivers door with no problems. The only thing is it came with a plastic pad that acted as a spacer , I had to leave that out but other than that it mounted fine. Its a big help to driver. The side mounts would look good though! I have a 32 special sedan.

I used a piece of very thin oil and gas proof , gasket paper, cut to fit the exact shape of the mounting part of the mirror, for outside and inside.

30 + years later, still mounted the same way.

Anyone with the clamp on style know how much space is required between the door and body to mount? Thanks

I don’t understand what Chipper is talking about. I have side mounted mirrors and mine function perfectly...............they do a great job holding up a couple of small American flags I have wire tied to them! As an actual mirror, if you can crane your neck around some, the drivers side is just OK. The passenger side one, did I tell you it’s a great flag holder!
