I was wondering if anyone knows the color of the carburetor on 1932 Chevrolet? is it gray like the engine?

Thanks

No. The 1932 carburetors (there were three of them, 212-S, 222-S, and the 235-S) all had black bodies. By the way, the 222-S was for trucks. The 212-S was the early 1932 version and the 235-S was the late 1932 version.

Is the air horn painted or left plain aluminum?

The cast iron body and dust cover were painted black. The paint on the body is a utility grade dull black not flat or high gloss. the dust cover is much glossier but not a modern high gloss. Other parts are not painted. Some (like throttle arms) are plated and others bare metal.

The air horn and the float bowl cover are pot metal, not aluminum. Also, the pot metal float bowl covers on the early two-bolt W1 carburetors are famous for warping.

I should have remembered "pot metal" as I swapped my carb out to a 569S due to a warped cover (5 years after repair) and a spare had an air horn that the pot metal completely fractured.
