I am trying to ID the paint on my 46. S/N 21DP A-10623. It shows 2 blues. It does have black fenders.

Anyone know?
Thanks for your replies.

Boatswain blue is a dark blue like the truck in the picture
Export blue is a lighter medium blue.
Boataswain was used from at least 1936-1946.

Thanks Gene, now I just have to see if I can find something that will work. Just want to do some small brush work were the paint is chipped.

Has anyone found a current day paint for the Boatswain Blue? I went to a paint store today with numbers I found online, but they couldn't identify a current paint.

I would suggest going to an AUTO paint store and having them match up a pint of enamel for you. Can you remove a small sample such as the gas cap or?

I have not painted for some years. When I was painting nobody would mix a pint of enamel. Only quarts. You could get lacquer in pints though. I never could understand that.

I did go to an automotive paint store, but thought I would also ask here. I am in California and no enamel paint. It has been repainted, so I don't know what type of paint was used.

I have a '54 3100 and it is painted the boatswain blue...it is an "outside" dog, kept out in the
elements...have it repainted very 7 yrs. at Maaco..never wax it, just drive it.

For touch-up, I went to a hobby shop and picked out about 4 bottles of enamel model paint, found
one that matched perfectly for touch-up. Just an idea.

I was thinking of the model paint. Do you have the number and name that you used for the touch up?

Here in Aus I have not found anyone that has a chart for any auto type paint prior to 1948 which basically means I am going to guess what the paint code on my 38 looks like, I cleaned it back to metal too well too many years ago.
