I have a couple of tags I hope somebody can decipher for me. They are both for 1932 Sport Coupes (model code 558) I know that much.
Canadian Car: (General Motors of Canada Limited tag)
Model Conf. 164
Serial 570296
Body serial 22
Engine 2320273
Body Job 32558
Trim 51
Paint 1057
US Car: (Fisher Body Corp Detroit Michigan tag)
Job No 32558
Body No 0 1623
Trim no 17
Paint no 99
I currently own the Canadian car and might end up owning the US car.
Thanks

I have a '32 Chev assembled in Oshawa, Ontario. Give me about a weeks time to review my files to help decipher the tag codes. Unless, of course, someone else can provide you the answer before I can.

Sounds good. Mainly wondering about the trim and paint codes.
Thanks!

Bertus I have a colection of 32 chevrolet numbers mostly roadsters. My opinion is that the only way to tell when a vehicle was made or assembled would have to do with the number of the engine used originally I have 1932 engines starting with 2319373 and ending with 2333699----The engine number of our 32 roadster is 2332507,Therefore i think our car would me near the last of the run for 32.The trim code on our car is 58 and the paint code is 1080 which is green. How you determine the build date is beyond me thanks.I am in Kingston East Ontario where abouts are you in Ontario

The car serial number and the engine block casting date (if the car still has the original engine) can help to determine the approx. build date of the vehicle.

Engine block stamped number is 2320273. This matches the number on my cowl tag.
Cowl tag info: General Motors of Canada. Model Conf. 164. Serial 570296. Body Serial 22. Engine 2320273. Body Job 32558. Trim 51. Paint 1057.
Engine Head casting numbers: 836718. 1932 Conv-12. (chevy bowtie) 8. D97. A10 1932
Engine block casting numbers: 836573. K101 (Chevy bowtie)2H
So...I believe I have a numbers matching vehicle?
I understand the color is "Elizabethan Blue" but so far I have not found and matches.

Thanks vette59jdwl. I am in rural Midwestern Ontario near Wingham. 1 1/2 hours straight north of London.
