I've been a VCCA member for a couple of years, but just now joined the forum. We took my wife's 70 Camaro to Tahoe where it earned it HPOCF in all 4 areas. Now I'm investigating another potential HPOCF. I'm looking at an original 41 sedan. My concern is the interior, especially the seats. The car has spend most of the last many years in a garage, but I don't know the history before that. Anyway, I'm sure the mohair has dried out and I'm worried about sitting on it and ripping the cloth. Is there something that can be done, applied to or whatever to save the mohair and bring back some of its elasticity? Also, what would be recommended for cleaning it?
thanks, Ken

ON my older mohair cars the only places I worried about is the top of the back seat that gets exposed to the sun through the back window and the outter top corner of the front seat backrest where the sun will hit. If the mohair nap is good in these areas I would not worry, that old material is tough stuff.
The sun is what weakens the material and the mohair "nap" falls off.

Cleaning would be a wool safe upholstery cleaner using a soft brush or turkish towel and use only the suds foam. I used to use Lanosheen.

I would like to add vacuum well first so imbedded dust does not turn into mud.

Thanks, I'll give it a try if I get the car.
