Just been fettling my 1927 Capitol, cleaned the carb, cured a few of the fuel leaks and am now trying to get it started. Set the float height to the recommended height, turned the idle screw one and a half turns from fully seated but my carb also has the adjustable main jet needle mounted through the float bowl securing nut and i was wondering how many turns out from fully seated should i start with?

thanks in advance.

Try 3 full turns out after fully and carefully seating the adjusting needle.

I just boxed a dual adjustment Carter RX-0. I initially set the main jet at 1 1/2 turn from fully seated. Didn't run well. Next tried approx. 3/4 turn out and it only needed a little tweaking at 17 feet above sea level. That is running on a '28 engine which typically needs a bit more fuel than '25-early '27.
