Hi I am working on a 35 Chevy and want to wire up the new sending unit to the guarge but both of the wires are cut and I am not sure what one goes to the ignition and what one goes to the gas tanks does anybody know and help me out

go to "old online chevy manuals", find 1934 shop manaul (same as 1935) then go to pages 143 and 144 in shop manual. Should help to answer the question.

The top terminal is usually for the ignition wire and the bottom terminal is usually for the sending unit wire.

Be sure you leave the paperboard under the terminal nuts in place. This is not paperboard but a "resistor"!!! It is important for proper gauge operation. Discoloration is not important. In addition make sure that a ground is kept between gauge housing and dash metal.
