I'm wondering why this now happens.
If I post, say at 9 P.M., all is fine.
If I go BACK to my post, say 30 minutes later, the posting information states I posted "yesterday at 11:00 P.M".
Why is this happening ?

At 1 stage a few years ago someone else had similar issues and it was suggested something about aligning the clock in your computer and the clock at the server. Now considering chat has had a major reset it could be that the clocks are now out of synch causing your issue. Personally I dont worry about the time of posting so long as my post shows up where it is intended to be.

I have no idea what time zone the site is on but I have noticed that it is way ahead of the Eastern Standard time zone while previously it was Pacific Standard. I am wondering if the server might be in the far EAST. Just checked after posting and it is five hours ahead of Eastern Standard time. Looks like Dublin Ireland time zone.

I know when the new site opened I had to go into preferences and change my time zone, it had changed to something other than the one that I was originally set to.

When I view your post and I am not signed in it shows 1:53PM-server time? When I sign in it reverts to 8:53. I did make a change in preferences but not sure that affected it as it's the same as previous.

I had the same issue right after the switch over to the new server and the upgrades. I corrected the problem in my Preferences. Click on your user name in the upper right-hand corner of the forum page. On the drop down menu click on "Preferences". Scroll down to the time zone and time. Change the time shown to match the time on your computer. Make sure that the time zone is correct as well. If not, change that too. I did the change in my Preferences and that corrected the posting time issue problem.

I suspect based on what you guys are posting the official time may be GMT. Peter should be able to enlighten us.

Peter may very well be in AZ but perhaps the server is not.

It's more than time zones.

9 P.M., 2-9-2018, on the east coast does NOT coincide to 11 P.M., 2-8-2018.

That is what I am taking about here ...... a 22 hour difference.

Nothing to lose sleep over, I was only curious as to why.

Bob, check the times signed in and not signed in. If I don't sign in your post is dated 2/10. Signed in it is dated 2/9 . I am guessing that not signed in we are seeing server time and signed in the time is adjusted to whatever you have selected for your preference .

As I mentioned earlier, I had the exact same problem. I changed the time zone and the time shown in my Preferences and that corrected the issue.

As a result of this discussion I checked where things were set for my system and set them closer to actuality. It may put things a little out of kilter for you lot upto 17 hours behind me.

If you view the site and are not logged in the time shown I believe is the actual server time (wherever it is) when posted. The server time does not change. If you log in (and have adjusted your time preferences) then the time shown will be adjusted to whatever your preferences are set at to show local time. All of us if not logged in when viewing a post should see the same time of the post. After logging in and preferences set for local time anyone in the world will see the time it was locally when posted. That is my best guess at least until someone who is in charge actually explains it. Hope I did not further confuse you.

I think that we will need Peter to explain all of this, however, I haven't seen him on this site for several days now.

I went into preferences, reset my time zone.

Will see how the reset changes what I see.

Thanks all !

It appears resetting the time zone, from the other side of the world, to EST was the fix.

Thanks to all for the direction !
