Hey guys I replaced my spare tire wells in my front fenders a while ago and I wondering what size drain hole goes into the bottom. I figured 1", so that got me thinking is there a trim ring that goes around it? I assume not as it would tend to hold water in the bottom of the well. I know small question, however I'm going through my finally check list before paint and I almost missed that one.

Thanks guys,

Steve

1" is correct, and no trim ring or grommet. A good way to be sure you have them at the very bottom is to mount it all up before making the hole and place a ball bearing or a marble in the well and let it seek bottom. That's where the hole goes.

Hope that helps.

All the Best, Chip

That is a great tip about the ball bearing seeking the exact bottom of the well.

Another idea along the BB is to use a little water itself. That’s how we’d find the right area to put the drain holes in food tanks I used to make up. You put your drill bit right in the center of the puddle of water. Of course a smaller amount of water makes it easier to see the center.
