HAVE A 1959 APACHE 31 WHICH I AM RESTORING. I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE EXISTING STEERING COLUM AND CHANGE THE STEERING BOX. CAN ONE OF YOU FINE FELLOWS ADVISE IF THIS IS POSSIBLE? WHAT DO I NEED TO DO THIS CONVERSION IF INDEED CAN BE DONE.

My 59 Apache had some serious steering challenges when I was restoring it. My solution was to replace most of the front end parts. The new king pins made a huge difference in steerabilty, and may have been THE problem. After that chore was completed it steered and handled like new.

I considered going to a power box as well, but after getting it all back together it really didn't need it.

If you do change over, let us know how it works out. Good luck.
