Hey guys I'm looking for information on how the light socket goes back in the the headlight bucket. I had two head lights chromed and and the inserts where removed that holds the light socket when they where chromed. I have all the parts I just know how it works/goes back together. Perhaps some one has a picture. It seems as if it would be easy to figure out right? I just don't see how it works with the spring, socket/bulb holder and socket holder.

Thanks for your help.

Not sure which socket you are talking about as the socket in the bucket for the pigtail is permanently installed. It is crimped in place. The inner part holds the pigtail which connects to the sockets mounted on the reflector. Is it the reflector sockets you are asking about?

The crimped piece is what I'm talking about. It was removed when the chroming was done for some reason. The crimp was opened and I have them to re-install. I will have no issue re-crimping the back over again as the where removed with care. I really have no idea as to why that was done at the plant. They said some repair was needed to the housings.

So I just re-crimped the socket's back in the bucket before completing this reply. So the reflector gets installed first the the pigtail is attached thought the reflector?
I noticed the spring around the pigtail housing holds the inner insert, preventing the pigtail from falling out of the socket.

The pigtail is attached first to the bucket socket and then to the reflector before the reflector is installed.

So I figured it out Steve. I missing a part the best I can tell. It's what goes in the socket in the bucket. I assume this is what the conduit connects to I saw a part in an old catalog from the filling station. when I tried to look it up it said can not find part.

I will keep working on it until I get it figured out.

Steve,

To get really bright light out of those check this out:

Using the suggested halogen bulbs and Petersson voltage regulator hidden inside the original generator my '36 PU lights are surprisingly bright and much safer for night driving.

The "experts" claim that the ancient generators won't power halogen bulbs but my experience is the opposite.

Send me a PM with your Email address and I will send you a photo of the pigtail which plugs into the inside of the H/L bucket socket.
