Don't know if this is the place to make my comment and I'm sure it wont do any good but I'm and tired, tired, tired of having to get a new password every time I want to log in. I know, I know about deleting my cookies and all but no other website I use has this continuing problem. What's so bloody difficult about fixing this mess? Surely I'm not the only one with this frustrating annoyance. Wonder how many others just give up and don't come back. I'm a dues-paying member and one would think the club could find someone competent who actually gives a [bleeped] about the people who use the site instead of some internet mommy who seems to only be concerned about someone hurting someone else's feelings.

VCCA members have access to a list of over 50 Technical Advisors who can help you with your car. It's worth the price of membership! While you can get a lot of information for free in this forum, sometimes the info that you REALLY need is only available from the right person. IF it is any comfort to you, GREENCORN, this VCCA chat site is the ONLY site, which I visit, that will not retain my log in information, meaning user name and password. I'm not computer literate enough to solve this concern, so I log in fresh, each time, every time. A pain in my backside, for certain, but it has been doing this since June or July of this year. I had no ongoing difficult before June ...... and I'm a ten year VCCA CHAT SITE MEMBER.

I for one don't have those problems. I am sorry you do but it is far from universal.

Thanks for the replies. I've had this problem for YEARS, once they had it fixed but that was long time ago. Seems like the administrator would do something about this but whenever I contact him all I get is "delete your cookie", etc. I don't use the site or the information as much as I would like simply because it's such a constant hassle to get connected.

Not a techie either, when I log in it does not allow me to log directly in but as soon as I put the first letter of my user name in the box it appears, I click on it and my pass word is in the box and click log in and I am good to go. I think this is done through your browser and not the website. Do a google on retaining your information for the browser (chrome, internet explorer, Firefox, etc.) you are using. Maybe this will be helpful.

There are a lot of us non-techies on here. I believe if you advise as Shorty noted which browser you are using then perhaps someone that also uses it could advise. I use firefox but do not store any of my logins or passwords. As soon as I type the first letter in the password box it prompts a suggested one which I can click on or just keep typing it in.

I rarely log out each time. I am here nearly every day and I will have to login occassionaly (every 2nd month or so), when I do I click the "remember me" button just under the password box. If I use a different computer I will have to log in but if I use my regular computer I generally dont need to log in. I have seen your previous posts on this but not being completely literate in these matters I wont pretend to be of much assistance. Tony

I just logged in , because I had logged out a day ago.. Simply typed in the required name and password along with the keep me logged in box. Bingo, here I am . Generally i stay logged in all the time and come to the site by clicking on the VCCA in MY FAVORITES and I am in, no login. Occasionally something happens to the net and effects my favorites. I keep a book with name used and password. Works for me. Further thought, ya I can understand your computer hostility , your not alone. mike lynch

wow, I logged out and took me at least 12 times of logging back in before actually being able to post again. I think if ELVIS was still alive, computers would not be safe, he would be taking them out like the TV's he did in , with his pistol. mike

Tony Tony, In my example, I do NOT log out, but still need to log in each time. If I hit "remember me" or not, the end result is still the same ......I must log in.

Just got a notice to renew my membership for the next year. Tried logging in (failed), got a new password and renewed my membership. When I go to the website it did not remember my name or password, had to get a new temporary password. I have to get a new password EVERY F'n time! What a damned hassle; is anybody in charge of this website? I'm a member of several organizations and have several on-line accounts and I've NEVER had the problems I have with this site. We need a new administrator who gives a [bleeped].

Hi greencorn, You must not have been reading the news on the Chevy Chat. Bill {our previous administrator} is no longer our "man". We have a new administrator who is a bit slow getting in the trenches and going to war. It is my understanding that the NEW man will become active after the 1st of the year. I understand changes will be made in personnel and in the format of the Chevy Chat. Stay tuned, it may get interesting.

Don't know if anyone has done anything about this annoying inconvenience but (for now at least)I stay logged in and don't have to request a new password each time. IF this is a positive corrective change I applaud the efforts of the website people in listening to the members, thank you.

I still have to log in each and every time. If I click "remember me", when logging in, I will get disconnected when I visit my first forum within the VCCA site. If I DO NOT click "remember me", I can get through my current visit, without interruption. Still have to log in on each new visit, "remember me" or not. Frustrating.

Me too. Don't know what happened in the middle of last year. Yes sir, that's when my problem began, as well. It ticks me off to receive a VCCA note, telling me it MUST be my computer because no one else is having the problem. Thanks for speaking up, Keith. On another note Keith, thinking of you and Barb. God Bless.

Maybe if you're having problems, you should post what Operating System and Browser you are using as well as any Anti-Virus software.
This may show a pattern since most people do not have this issue.
Make sure you email this info to Admin as well so they have some background.

If you have McAfee installed, it runs a monthly "CLEANING" service for you. One of the things that it does is to erase all COOKIES that are in your browser cache. The next time you try to log in to any of the sites that you may have "saved" the password - it will not be there and it will prompt you to re-enter it again.
Other security software packages have similar routines to make your life easier -- NOT!!! Cookies do not take up very much space. I delete them about once every 3 years.
