bought 235 and the man said been sitting long time it ran but some of lifters now working right. i put penetrating oil got them to move a little so decided to pull them out they were stuck i finally got them all out using vice grips and they looked good no dishing will get the vice grip scoring off of them have been looking for a set of new lifters no luck have heard nothing but bad stuff about lifters on the market nowadays will i be okay sanding the pry marks off the top part of the lifter. i plan on soaking them in kerosene and then mystery marvel oil for awhile anybody gone thru the same problem before

It always was aproblem to pull out the lifters on those engines. That is because the lifter fit very tight in the bore and a little varnish built up on the side of the lifter towards the bottom where is did not slide in the block. They make a tool for removing lifters, called a "liftr puller". It hooks under the retaining spring on top.
To clean the lifter you remove the retaining spring and little cap. Then pull out the piston inside. That is was can cause a lifter to stick. Be careful as the is a check ball inside there.

AS ALWAYS GENE THANKS i doubt if the lifter removal tool would helped me they were pretty tough to get out maybe i didnt soak them enough in the right stuff did you see my other post about water jacket crud thanks again
