NOW THAT HAVE FIGURED OUT PAINT IS SHINY SEMI-GLOSS OR BETTER AM NOT VERY GOOD AT PAINTING CAN FARM It out if have to should i primer it first and then paint it with hi-temp engine paint because most of the air cleaner sits real close to the exhaust manifold i want to do it right the first time not a real big fan of doing something twice

Primer under paint results in a more long lasting coating. Many parts were originally painted directly and not primed. You may find it necessary to sand the primer smooth before top coating.

The air cleaner does not get that hot. I would not use primer if the metal is bare and clean. The original was more of a semi-gloss than full gloss....kind of half way between the two.
