I purchased a pair of used conversion units labeled specifically for my car. The seller had bought them and never tried them so I do not fault him that they did not fit. The original reflector and glass lens are approximately 1/4 thick. The replacement is about 1/32 so something is missing. Is there a drawing or sketch that night tell me what I need?

I have one set of adaptors stored down stairs in basement I purchased last year. Pretty sure the packed in original box setup has the instructions.. There is a lot of stuff down there I have purchased for the 35 roadster build.

I have instead purchased new repo reflectors for $120 pr from carter truck parts and higher powered bulbs to keep that original look. They also sell the inside cork type lens seal.

note..........ron francis wireworks has special early bulbs with higher output than stock. They work good. Believe they also offer these in 6 Volt and 12 Volt.

Halogen head light bulbs will require a bigger output generator or alternator plus a 30 AMP circuit breaker wired in.

I will provide some inputs but they might not be as relevant as you need.

Based on my observation of the sealed beam conversion on my '37 Master Coupe it is a fairly significant change. I also have all the parts for the original reflector beam units that were on the car.

The only part that is the same is the headlight bucket itself. And that had to be modified to accept the adjusting screws. The wiring harness must be modified to accept the 3 terminal plug that connects to the back of the sealed beam. All the other parts including the trim ring are different.

One other situation that you will probably encounter is the lack of generator capacity to power the sealed beams.

Unless you plan to do much if any night driving (and upgrade the generator) you might not be satisfied with the results.

I have adequate generator and wiring. The bulbs would be interesting. The originals were lower CP than what I have now and if I recall had the same rating for both filaments. Most of all I'm trying to learn what happened.

Seems like sealed beams in the large buckets of the '35 Standard might look a little odd.

I had a set of 33 lamps that were converted and they looked horrible. They were removed and trashed. For brighter lights I suggest nickle plating the reflectors and then aluminum vacuum sealing.

I believe that's what Carters truck reflector repos are, they are sure shiny. I bought them for my 34-35 standard head lights on the touring. So far still in the boxes until this spring.

my other car uses the guide 37-40 era truck 7" sealed beam headlights with BOSCH H4 halogen lamps, to light up the nite. These were used on a lot of diff makes of trucks.

You might try a halogen bulb. I have a set in my car and they light up the road like it was a modern car. Vision is extremely good.
