Although I have not done this, a lot of other folks put newer heads on older engines. The single exhaust port heads are prone to cracking and when they did, a lot were replaced with the dual exhaust port '28 heads.
I have heard that the push rods are not the same length for all the 4-cylinder engines. There might be other factors to consider also.
This topic would probably get more opinions in the Speedster forum, since they modify the 4 bangers for speed and power. Back in the day, the hot rodders used to put a 1923 three port OLDS head on the Chevy blocks.
